PETAL-WHIRL

ROBIN SAVAGE

Petal-Whirl spins with centrifugal force, cultivating excitement and creativity with its colours, patterns, and rings; an unseen avenue of explorative play.

We collaborated with the non-profit, Power of Play, to design this interactive object for children in the Zaatari Refugee camp.

The design is first being studied by UBC psychology students before being delivered to the Jordan camp for the children to play.

We looked closely at the children’s psychological needs. The lack of colour in their environment, the need for community, collaboration, and their right to play and feel excited despite the challenges they may face.
